Goodbye, Magnolia — Hello, South Main

IMG_8620Last week, The Starr Conspiracy broke ground at its new HQ on South Main Street on Fort Worth’s Near Southside. Work on transforming the former nightclub into our new home base should be complete in time for us to move in by early May.

Some of us may mourn the fact that we’re leaving behind the restaurant-cluttered Magnolia Avenue. Others may miss the charm of the former candy factory that’s housed TSC’s offices for the last seven years. Still others may be a little iffy about the new neighborhood we’re moving to — growth over there has been on a slow burn over the last five years and it’s still a work in progress.

But I can’t wait to move. To me, South Main Village is filled with so much possibility, and we’re moving there at a critical time in its growth. Sure, the lunch options are lacking right now, unless you want to grab a stack of chicken-fried steaks at Jesus Family Restaurant, but I’m a big-picture person. We’ll be joining the handful of pioneering businesses that already call South Main Village home — The Salon Upstairs, Stir Crazy Baked Goods, ThumbTechs and our next-door neighbor, Amphibian Stage Productions, among others. And there are more businesses on the way, like Shipping & Receiving Bar.

We’re getting in on the ground floor in an up-and-coming neighborhood — we’re explorers in uncharted waters. We may not know exactly what lies ahead for South Main, but whatever happens, The Starr Conspiracy is going to be part of it. We’re going to help shape the growth of a neighborhood. And that’s pretty amazing when you think about it.
