There’s no lack of professional certifications for HR and L&D professionals, with ATD and SHRM certifications, among others. But what about one that’s all about Taking Care of Business (or TCB, as Elvis might say)? That’s what Brandon Hall Group is working on.
Brandon Hall Group announced an interesting alternative to traditional HR and L&D certifications, an approach that’s more agile and focused on driving actual business results.
Brandon Hall Group CEO Mike Cooke had this to say about the announcement: “We felt there was a void in certification programs that prepare human capital management professionals to work effectively with business leaders in their organizations.”
For Work Tech vendors, this could be a very quick, easy, cost-effective way to upskill product marketing teams to better serve their clients, especially as it soon adds more certifications, including Diversity and Inclusion, Leadership Development, Talent Management, Talent Acquisition, and Workforce Management/Core HR.
Brandon Hall Group isn’t the only vendor creating certifications.
Big news heard round the world a few weeks ago when Google announced its own Google Career Certifications, where learners can “Learn job-ready skills to start or advance your career in high-demand fields. These certificates developed by Google connect you to top national employers who are hiring for related roles.”
These certifications take about six months to complete, hosted on Coursera, and include programs in data analysis, project management, and UX design.
Google is putting pressure on the L&D market that’s been ripe for disruption for years, about which you can read in our Brandscape series.
That’s not the only thing Google is pressuring. Last week they announced that G Suite has rebranded as Google Workspace, further increasing competition on Microsoft Teams and other collaboration platforms.
In other words, they’re getting serious about Work Tech, and Work Tech should get serious about that.
