3 B2B Marketing Mistakes You Might Have Already Made in 2014

2014 marketing goalsWe’re just a few days into a brand new, fresh year. You have a blank marketing slate for 2014. You may have already made a few mistakes on your personal New Year's resolutions already (don't feel bad, pie is delicious), but you don't have to make these marketing mistakes in 2014:

  1. Not conducting audits of your current marketing programs: If you haven’t conducted a series of marketing audits of what worked and what didn’t in 2013, you might be walking into a new year without a good picture of what you need to accomplish in 2014. Take a look at your progress in SEO. What do your paid search programs look like? Have they gone stale? Is it time to consider a new marketing automation or CRM platform? Do you plan to rent the same lists, invest in the same events, and repeat all of your media buys from last year? Take a close look at your marketing performance from last year and be open to seeing room for improvement in the new year.

  2. Casting a wide net when you could be targeting with precision: There is a time and a place for casting a wide net with your paid media programs and your targeted marketing efforts. But when you have the ability to target with precision using retargeting or smarter media platforms, you might be missing out on opportunities to reach your target audience in a meaningful way.

  3. Missing opportunities to use dynamic content or smarter content targeting: You might be missing opportunities to deliver targeted content to your audience if you’re not using retargeting and dynamic content in 2014. If you’re not sure where to start with dynamic content, you can start here with this recent post from Hubspot.
