3 Takeaways From InfluenceHR in 90 Seconds or Less

Quick Videos for HCM Marketers Who Missed Out

We’re a week removed from this year’s InfluenceHR, and two things are clear:

  1. We’re not going to get those poker chips back from the Golden Nugget — no matter how many letters we send them.
  2. This year’s InfluenceHR was, by all accounts, a rousing success.

Thank you to everyone who made this year’s conference so special. From the attendees, to the vendors, to the amazing speakers — everyone played a big part in making the conference awesome. (And the bloody mary bar didn’t hurt, either.)

If you weren’t able to make it to this year’s InfluenceHR, that’s OK — we’ve got three big takeaways for you. Now, these three takeaways don’t even come close to covering all the content that was discussed at this year’s conference (I mean, just take a look at the agenda to get an idea), but they do transition nicely into three shaky iPhone videos we took while we were on the conference floor, and fit into the three buckets every HCM marketer should be focused on: promotion, strategy, and branding.

Let’s dive in, shall we?

Marketing Budget Benchmarks in 45 Seconds

They’re playing it cool in this video, but Starr Conspiracy Technology Advisor and Digital Media Consultant JJ La Pata and Partner Kevin Mangum knocked it out of the park in their Marketing Budget Benchmarks presentation (and at 8 a.m. on a Tuesday, no less). In their presentation, they covered some of the latest research on HR tech marketing budgets and where and how marketers are allocating their dollars for 2018.

The Importance of Choice Factor in 40 Seconds

Starr Conspiracy Intelligence Unit Chief Jonathan Goodman and Vennli CEO and Co-founder Gary Gigot told conference attendees how to identify the most important aspects of their company’s message to achieve true differentiation among their competitors and discover the buyers who align with their attitudes, behaviors, and beliefs (or, what we call your radical buyer). That was a mouthful, but this session was really cool and super informative for brands trying to find their audience and stand out.

Selling Your Story in 90 Seconds

Starr Conspiracy Director of Client Services Haley McBride, Art Director Jonathan Irwin, Practice Manager Rachel Causey, and Director of Digital Media Marc Stewart all shared how to create a brand with a compelling story behind it. In the session, they covered their philosophy on the components needed to best “sell” your brand’s story.

(The author of this tweet totally knows “strategy” is misspelled. He was just waiting to see if you’d catch it.)

So, what do you think? Were you able to make it to InfluenceHR this year? If so, what did you think about the sessions? Are you interested in learning more about what we think about strategy, branding, and promotion? Let us know in the comments section below.
