#LAshrm13 — A Social Media Success Story

baton rouge

The Starr Conspiracy is at Louisiana State SHRM Conference this year (right now) and the work LA SHRM has done to grow their show deserves to be highlighted.

In 2010, LA SHRM had 250 attendees and the majority of the sessions were largely held by legal professionals focused on process and policy. This year (2013), 360 people attended and the sessions ranged in focus from the future of HR to social HR while maintaining some of the process-driven tactical sessions to give attendees a broad range of topics to learn about.

Their growth wasn’t accidental.

Speaker Chair Robin Schooling has invested time in cultivating relationships with influential HR practitioners and thought leaders, promoting the conference through nontraditional channels, and diversifying the content so attendees feel compelled to return.

Robin has made a push to include speakers from outside of the state of Louisiana for the state SHRM conference and to expand into sessions on new topics with unconventional, interactive formats.

If you host events as part of your marketing strategy, you can take a few pointers from Robin and her team.

Check out the hashtag #lashrm13 on Twitter and Instagram to see the social involvement for the conference and make sure you attend next year’s Louisiana SHRM State Conference to see the growth for yourself.

If you attended this year, give Robin Schooling some props for her hard work on Twitter by mentioning @RobinSchooling and #LAshrm13!
